Shipping and Receiving / Inventory Control Manager
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Shipping - Processes and oversees the accuracy of shipping items.
•Generates bills of ladings for shipments.
•Inspects and verifies outgoing shipments are correctly and adequately packaged with necessary labels and paperwork.
•Organizes, stocks, and maintains shipping areas are clean and organized.
•Maintains designated areas for outgoing shipments.
•Inspects and verifies outgoing shipments are correct and not damaged before shipping.
•Ensures all shipments, including rental and large equipment, are photographed and digitally documented in the system to avoid loss claims.
•Works with procurement on any damaged shipments and provides documentation for claims.
•Ensures all shipments are adequately insured.
Receiving – Processes and oversees the accuracy of receiving items.
•Inspects and verifies shipments received are correct and not damaged before quality inspection.
•Ensures all parts are correctly entered and placed in their appropriate locations per the Inventory Control System after inspection and acceptance.
•Coordinates with engineering and shop personnel to properly inspect items received.
•Ensures all returned shipments, including rental and large equipment, are photographed and digitally documented upon return and informs the Shop Foreman and Procurement office of any issues.
•Receives all assets and ensures proper documentation of items.
Inventory Control – Oversees the accuracy and regulation of inventory.
•Enters, updates, and maintains inventory daily.
•Coordinates with the shop floor to maintain proper inventory counts.
•Establishes inventory storage locations and coordinates with shop personnel to ensure all parts and materials are properly stored in their appropriate locations per the inventory control system.
•Periodically coordinates and leads inventory audits.
•Establishes and regulates access restrictions to inventory areas as needed to ensure all employees are on process.
•Documents all inventory off-site including inventory sent to vendors for repair or alteration.
•Pulls, organizes and prepares parts for production according to work orders.
•Sends procurement requests for low stock and ensures shop supplies are adequately stocked.
•Communicates with sales and management regarding inventory levels.
•Generates and distributes regular reports on inventory highlighting trends, costs, and areas for improvement.
•Ensure all inventory locations are clean and accurately labeled.
Documentation and Reporting
•Maintains proper documentation and records of shipping and receiving activities, including tracking numbers, delivery confirmations, and invoices.
•Assists in preparing shipping and customs documentation for international shipments, ensuring compliance with regulations.
•Stores all digital documentation on the server for safekeeping.
Equipment Safety
•Safely operates and maintains equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand tools, following safety protocols.
•Maintains a clean and organized work area, including storage locations, shipping/receiving docks, and equipment.
Management Roles
Inventory
•Oversees the inventory management processes within the organization. Supervises and conducts inventory control. Manages inventory control activities and ensures accurate stock reporting.
•Ensures accuracy of procedures and training for associates in the department.
•Follows up regularly with the team to forecast inventory needs.
•Leads and supervises team, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
•Implements cost-saving measures within your team to minimize cost.
•Oversees inventory locations and accuracy to minimize stock loss and misplacement.
•Assigns tasks, sets priorities, and monitors workloads to ensure effective use of time.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Manufacturing blueprints, Microsoft email, and Google Sheets.
ABILITY TO:
Read, write, and communicate effectively. Read blueprints and technical drawings. Strong attention to detail and organization skills. Ability to lift heavy objects. Ability to work independently and stick to a deadline. Ability to work after hours when required. Ability to stand for extended periods. Strong analytical skills in counting and tracking inventory parts and creating reports along with forecasting methods. Strong time management skills to keep production and sales parts shipped and pulled.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma, GED, or Equivalent
Forklift Certification
Worked with ERP System a plus
Email, Word, Excel, and Google Sheets
PHYSICAL AND MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to physically perform the duties and to work in the environmental conditions required of a position. Lift 50lbs, work in a warehouse environment subject to above and below-average temperatures. Ability to stand for long periods of time.
