JOB OVERVIEW

This position is responsible for leading and overseeing the City's planning functions while providing high-quality customer service and professional planning assistance to city departments, residents, developers, designers, and elected and appointed officials. The role includes managing the application process from submission to final approval and ensuring compliance with relevant codes and policies while helping to shape the City's future vision.

Key responsibilities include reviewing and coordinating development proposals, working with other departments to evaluate projects, and ensuring that all required information is provided by applicants. This position will also prepare technical comments, compile zoning history, and determine when special exceptions or variances may be needed. Through independent work and collaboration with others, this role ensures that development aligns with City regulations and long-term planning objectives.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in urban or community or regional planning, geography, public administration, architecture, landscape or elated field. 

Five years of experience in professional planning in municipal planning agency that include current planning, long-range and master planning; a master's degree in urban planning or related field may be substituted for one year of experience. 

Three years' supervisory experience over professional planning staff. 

AICP certification required.
