Exhibiting stewardship for the cooperative and its subsidiary, the Staking Technician professionally represents the Engineering Services department by staking and designing line for electric and broadband facilities while coordinating with member and subscriber requirements to provide safe, efficient, and reliable service.

Core Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities described below are the essential functions of the job and are not intended to be all inclusive for this position.

•    Designs new electric and broadband service line extensions, upgrades and re-routes of existing lines and equipment according to the cooperative’s standards including but not limited to the National Electrical Safety Code, National Electrical Code and RUS specifications.
•    Develops and maintains working relationship with members and subscribers through service appointments and communication (email, phone calls, etc.).
•    Calculates capacity requirements of new electric services or service upgrades.
•    Identify and manage the development of electric service contracts for large loads, primary meters, subdivisions and other unique situations.
•    Researches, describes, and prepares accurate and correct right-of-way easements, land use permit applications, and landowner approval forms for electric and broadband facilities.
•    Prepares the necessary documentation for submission to the highway department for permitting, placement, rearrangement, and reimbursement, where applicable.
•    Prepare staking sheet and related agreements to accommodate joint use of poles by other utilities in accordance with the agreement of each utility.
•    Prioritize, organize, track and complete assignments and manage multiple projects.
•    Provides accurate mapping information using the electronic staking software.
•    Calculate and prepare invoices using the Contribution in Aid Tool (CIA).
•    Assist member-generators through the process of Distributed Generation interconnection.
•    Assist in outage assessment and restoration during major outage events.
•    Responsible for following all cooperative safety policies and procedures.

Job Qualifications:

Specific requirements and competencies include:

•    Solid Educational Background - High school diploma or equivalent: post-secondary-education in technical or engineering related subject preferred.
•    Experience in dealing with the public required.
•    Must possess or acquire an effective working knowledge of the methods, assemblies, and specifications used in the construction and maintenance of electric and broadband distribution lines and related equipment.
•    Must acquire familiarity with the service territory of the Cooperative and its subsidiary.
•    Should possess skills in the preparation of plans and construction drawings and knowledge of basic mathematics.
•    The ability to maintain good customer relations in all situations and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects is highly desirable.
•    Must have basic computer skills.
•    The ability to determine the most economical design for line construction.
•    Use of staking and design software and GPS equipment.
•    Must have and maintain a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License.
•    Must be able to obtain a notary public.
•    A basic knowledge of electricity and energy use and/or a basic knowledge of telecommunications facilities.
•    Must have the ability to schedule time and complete work in an independent manner.
•    A basic knowledge of various types of electric metering equipment is desirable.
•    Must have the ability to communicate well in person and in writing.
•    Must become familiar with all company policies and procedures.
