About
OK License #80002671 In case our area is hit by a major hail storm, it's essential to know that you should not sign anything with a roofer who shows up at your door right after the storm. Many people feel pressured and sign with a roofing company even though they don't understand what they're signing. They think that without that contractor, their insurance won't pay them. However, you don't need a roofing contractor to get what you're owed in the event of a hail storm. ABS Roofing can guide you through the claims process. If you have legitimate damage, there's a 99% chance your insurance company will pay you without any issues. And unless the hail goes through your shingles, underlayment, AND decking, it's probably not going to cause any leaks. If it busted out skylights, windows, or high winds have blown off portions of the shingles, that's something that needs to be covered immediately. There are times when your insurance estimate might be short, but usually, a simple email to the adjuster explaining the issue solves the problem. There are also times when you'll want a roofer to confirm that you have damage to the roof before filing a claim. However, there's no need to sign a contract to have this done. If the roofer requires it for a damage inspection, tell them that you're not interested. As always, ABS Roofing provides free roof inspections. If we get golf ball or bigger hail, your roof and gutters are probably damaged, so don't hesitate to call your insurance company. Please don't get hung up on getting a 10-year or "lifetime" labor warranty from a company that's been in business for a short time, does not have a valid roofing license, or a registered business with the Oklahoma Secretary of State. Beware of out-of-state companies! Once the storm is gone, so are they. Then you're left with no one to contact for warranty work or improper installation. This is also a great time to review your insurance policy to make sure you have deductibles that are right for you and always get full replacement costs, if possible. I've seen many customers file a claim where their deductible and the depreciation take over half of their insurance payment. Then they're on the hook for the other 50% of the total roof cost. If you have any questions or concerns about damage, please don't hesitate to call, message, or text ABS Roofing.Advanced Building Specialties: Specializing in Commercial and Residential Roofing and construction
