United Way Honors The Dunkin Theater Owner at Annual Meeting
(Stillwater, OK – Jan. 24, 2024) – United Way of Payne County (UWPC) recognized Geoff Beasley, Cushing business owner, as an Outstanding Community Leader at its Annual Meeting at Meridian Technology Center on Tuesday.
UWPC Executive Director Ruth Cavins presented Beasley with the award for his enthusiastic involvement and support of United Way and its 23 partner agencies.
“It is fun to win an award for participating in events that naturally excite me but have such a big impact on organizations that make substantial differences in our community,” Beasley said in an email.
Beasley organized two years of the Rockin’ for United Way Benefit Concert, held at The Dunkin’ Theatre. Local talents Charlie Hickman Band, Jason Savory, Blue Dirt Project and Mike Hosty have performed at the annual event so far. The concert raised money and awareness toward UWPC’s $1 million dollar campaign goal for Payne County.
Beasley also participated in the United Way Pickleball Tournament hosted by Mercury Marine in November. Notably, he and his pickleball partner, Joe Bickell scored 1st place in the intermediate category.
“I will proudly display my award to remind myself and others that volunteering can be fun,” Beasley said.
Beasley was not the only Cushing resident that night. Leilani Mooreland with Wings of Hope and Latina Simmons with Enbridge Energy were announced as new UWPC Board Members.
Other award recipients included Leon Jones and Julie Weathers of Stillwater and Chris Peterman of Perkins also received the Outstanding Community Leader Award. UWPC Board Member, Clem Ward received the Board Member of the Year Award. UWPC partner agencies, Stillwater Habitat for Humanity and The Saville Center for Child Advocacy, each received Bennett Basore Awards. Tommy’s Express Car Wash in Stillwater received the Shining Star Corporate Spotlight Award and Legacy Village of Stillwater was presented the Synergy Award, with special acknowledgement for the leadership of Legacy Village residents, Lou Watkins and Cara Beer.
