Beware!  Beware! Beware! There are bad actors everywhere!

8 Ways to Protect Yourself:

  • Verify Websites and Sellers
  • Check for https:// in the URL.  Look for customer reviews.  Use reputable shopping platforms.
  • Don’t Click on Suspicious Links from your emails and texts
  • Go directly to the company’s website.
  • Research Charities
  • Use tools like Charity Navigator and Guidestar to verify legitimacy.
  • Monitor your Bank Accounts
  • Check your bank accounts/statements regularly for any suspicious activity.
  • Use Secure Payment Methods
  • Pay using your credit card(s) or services like PayPal for Fraud Protection…but always be careful of what you pay and who you pay.
  • Be skeptical of Unsolicited Requests 
  • Confirm need for funds and personal information independently of any request.
  • Track packages Securely 
  • Use official apps or websites to track packages.
  • Install Security Software
  • Use anti-virus and anti-phishing on your devices to block malicious activity.
