*This committee is available for Chamber Member Partners ONLY.  Any staff from a Cushing Chamber Member Partner is welcome to be part of the committee.  

Join us on August 22 from 4 pm - 5 pm at the Cushing Chamber Board Training Room as we KICK OFF the potential of a NEW Cushing, OK Festival!  For many years, we have discussed the possibility of developing an Herb Festival in our community with several of our Member Partners.  The timing finally seems right to see if this has potential or not.  We firmly believe that it is the right time to start something of this magnitude, for our business community and our community as a whole.  We need something that brings in tourism and helps our local business community in Cushing, and this just might be it.  

FESTIVAL: 

April 26, 2025 date was chosen due to being a great weekend in the Spring when other large Herb Festivals are over.  The Sand Springs Herb Festival is the second weekend in April and the Jenks Herb Festival is the third Weekend in April.  How awesome would it be to be listed with those two fantastic Herb Festivals, in the month of April?!? The timing is perfect for gardener/herb grower vendors, where they can go from festival to festival every weekend in the month of April.  

KCBS BBQ COOK-OFF: 

We would also like to explore the idea of a KCBS (Kansas City BBQ Society) sanctioned BBQ Cook-off during the Herb Festival, to add another layer of excitement to the festival.  We know a void was left with the cancellation of our public portion of BBQ N Blues; this is a way to bring it back for the community and our local business community. 

WHAT TO EXPECT: 

During Committee meetings, Committee members will be deciding on and helping with the development of all parts of the Festival.  In order to get a festival of this magnitude off the ground, there will need to be lots of "hands on deck", who are ready to fulfill this type of commitment.  Committee members will also be expected to volunteer before, during, and after the Festival.  

There will be committee member agreement form signed and dated by all committee members, to make sure everyone is on the same page on expectations, terms, and conditions of serving on a Cushing Chamber Committee.
